Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market Opens for the 2019 Season

Once the flea market season is under way, we at Unusual Offerings watch weather reports like farmers, worrying about rain and wind, heat and cold, and how high the humidity is expected to be. Weather affects sales. People don’t turn out when it’s raining or bitterly cold. From what we’ve experienced, humidity also appears to glue people’s wallets shut.

We had none of those problems the first weekend at the Elephant’s Trunk! The customers responded to the perfect spring day by turning out in large numbers. It was a great crowd, with lots of smiling faces, as folks looked for whatever struck their fancy.

Given that it was the first weekend of the season, we’d expected there might be 150 or 200 vendors on the field: enough to fill Area A plus the prime site corners on the central avenue of Area B. We were astonished to find that the field was completely filled: all of Area A, all of Area B, and all of Area C, which normally only gets overflow vendors who arrive late. The field was sold out, and all 100 premium pre-paid spots had also sold. It was more like a high summer weekend than the first day of the season!

Zander enjoyed greeting new and returning customers throughout the day.

It was a great day to start the season! We’re looking forward to seeing more of our regular customers, vendors we’ve come to know, and the great staff who make the Trunk what it is: the best weekly flea market in the Northeast.
